The creators of scrubs made some interesting parallels between the characters of Scrubs and the characters of The Wizard of Oz in the episode “My Way Home”. By looking at the character JD you can better understand the character Dorothy. JD is called in from his day off to work. All JD wants to do is find his way back home but people keep on needing his attention to help them solve their own problems. JD does what he can to help but at the end of the day people realize that they were capable of solving their problems on their own. Dorothy has the same role in The Wizard of Oz as JD does in Scrubs.

Interestingly enough JD was unsure of wanting to help the others while in Oz Dorothy helped because she was on a similar journey to find something that was missing.
I agree that they always knew they could solve thier own problems, although, I got the impression they needed someone to help them through it regardless of how strong they thought they were.
I really like when you mentioned that at the end they realize that they dont need JD's help. i kind of missed that.
